CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX

APPEAL

This was an opportunity for everyone on the Alton estate to be involved in a community-wide appeal that could change the lives of many children throughout the world (Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa) this Christmas -  the Smile International Christmas Shoebox Appeal – small gifts that make a big difference. 

At the "Big Send-Off" on 15th November at Roehampton Methodist Church 79 boxes from eleven groups were handed over to Smile International representative Simone.

At the event, which was attended by the Mayor of Wandsworth, two of our ward councillors  and members of the community, a DVD was shown that explained the journey the shoeboxes would be making and we heard from Simone who had recently returned from Kosovo - one of the shoeboxes' destination.

Well done and Thank You to everyone who donated, wrapped and packed the boxes.
